After ending three months of physical therapy for sciatica in early June, I didn’t know how I could return to the gym and possibly get in shape for my daughter’s wedding in July. I was turning 71, and although swimming again, I doubted I could ever get my arms toned enough to look good in my sleeveless Mother of the Bride gown, much less have the stamina to dance the night away. I began training with Sruta who, focused on strength, flexibility, and functional movement. Sruta showed me exercises to do at the gym and at home to sculpt my arms and used a cross-section of the gym’s equipment to help strengthen my core while being mindful of the machines or movements that could reinjure my back. Not only did I feel confident walking down the aisle with my daughter, but I danced the night away–with plenty of energy left for the wedding brunch the following day! At 71, I feel younger and stronger than I did when I retired last year, and I look forward to training further with Sruta to enjoy an active retirement.
